2012 has been an interesting year for criminal lawyers at home and abroad from Savile to Newtown & from Leveson to QASA. Now, more than ever there is a pressing need for politicians, the media & the public to understand the criminal law & how criminal advocates are uniquely placed to ensure justice in individual cases & to debate wider issues in relation to domestic & international crime.
2012 has been a busy year for me in court, in the press & on the telly. I look forward to a bumper year next year. I already have some interesting & complex cases in the diary, the news is full of my specialist subjects (sex, death & money) & look out for my contribution to the College of Law! Enjoy the holidays & if you are on call – good luck in getting the next great case!

Felicity writes on press regulation and prank calls
“This week headlines have been dominated by the recommendations from the Leveson Inquiry; and the two Australian DJs, whose prank call to the hospital treating the Duchess of Cambridge led to the nurse who took the call taking her own life. Yet again, we are asking questions about press freedom and whether we should be drafting new regulations.”
